Burn, Muthafucker!

I took this Mercedes taxi, SHC 0829R, on 20th April around 7.30pm, from Toa Payoh Central to my residence at Hougang Street 21. I remember that my 3-year-old daughter was throwing tantrums that evening as she did not have a good nap at her daycare centre & was feeling sleepy.

When I entered the cab, all seemed well & the well-dressed driver even politely offered to go by Serangoon to my residence, instead of the CTE to avoid the ERP. Later, my daughter was feeling restless again & started crying & standing up... playing with the tissue box that was put behind the rear seat. I scolded my daughter for taking the tissue papers out but she would not listen. So I just tried to do whatever I could to make sure she didn't litter the cab. Then I noticed the driver looking at her through his front view mirror & impatiently shook his head, but I thought nothing of it at first.

Suddenly, he screamed "Why are u so naughty?! Don't waste the tissues!!!"

I was so appalled at his outburst. Did he think my daughter would understand that? My daughter became more upset & cried even louder than before. Even though I was seething with anger I quietly told him that he didn't have to scream at my daughter & said I will do the scolding myself. Twice, I told him that. He then kept quiet throughout the remaining journey. When I finally alighted at my destination I still did not receive an apology from him.

I have to say, he really ruined the reputation of Mercedes cab drivers, who are supposed to be more professional & polite. I have never come across this before even with smaller cab drivers. He could have just let me handle my child. It's not like I was going to let her litter the cab or anything like that.

Despite many reports of errant taxi drivers like him, there are still many out there. This is definitely a worrying trend. Is issuing a warning to cab drivers enough? I'm afraid not.

I took his particulars down.

So that they could do something with da motherfucker.
